Festive mode on high from ‘Maha Shasti’ day, Agartala city witness massive crowd
Amidst mad rush for pre-puja shopping and visiting of Puja pandals by revelers on the day of ‘Maha Panchami’ started across Tripura and taking advantages of no restrictions on traffic movements on the day of ‘Maha Sashti and pleasant weather, thousands of puja revellers with private or commercial vehicles are moving pandal to pandal across the Agartala city.
With the regular passenger train services including local services through DEMO, thousands of people from different parts of the state have also gathered in the city on the day of ‘Maha Shasti’, which is picking up momentum for shopping and business transactions and in the evening large numbers of devotees thronged in pandals.
Since the day of the ‘Chathurthi’, the big-budget puja pandal across inaugurated and large-number devotees and revelers are gathering for a glimpse of marvelous puja pandals in Agartala.
Large number of devotees thronged major puja pandals across Agartala since the day of ‘Maha Chathurthi’. Similar scenes were noticed on the day of ‘Maha Shasti’ and till 8 PM of Sunday, all the roads of Agartala city were crowded with puja revelers.
While, police said that considering the Puja hovering from ‘Maha Shasti’ day, the state police has made elaborate arrangements and a large number of security forces were deployed in every nook and corner of Agartala city along with all sub divisional headquarters.
The 149-year-old Durga Puja, first initiated by the erstwhile Tripura kings and subsequently sponsored by the state government for more than seven decades, still continues to attract devotees from across the state.
Tripura after merged with the Indian Union 76 years ago, is possibly the only state in the country where the administration continues to finance the 149-year-old Durgabari Puja, which is also closely supervised by both the surviving members of the erstwhile royal family and the West Tripura District administration.
The 'Bodhan' (also called 'Maha Shasti’), the welcoming of the Durga idols, the five-day-long 'Puja' (worship) began on Sunday at the famous Durgabari temple, located near Ujjayanta Palace and on the day of 'Maha Shasti’ large number of devotees also gathered in the temple.
Previously, one of the most attracted community Durga-Puja in Agartala, ‘Bharat Ratna Sangha’ of Usha Bazar area after closure of their community Puja by the state administration in 2024, this year they have also tried to attract the devotees by erecting a marvelous pandal. It has again crowded the Airport road after a gap of one year and since Sunday afternoon, large-number of puja revelers taking advantage of no restrictions on traffic movements have crowded in front of Bharat Ratna Sangha.
Meanwhile, among the big-budget community puja in different clubs of Agartala, a massive crowd on Sunday evening creates a high festive mood across Capital city.
