Flood rescue operations: Women personnel of Assam Rifles lead the way
In a display of exemplary show of indomitable spirit and courage, Riflewoman of Assam Rifles are leading the relief and rescue operations in Tripura. Four rescue columns of Assam Rifles are launched in various parts of the state, including East Kanchanbari, Kumarghat, Unakoti district, Amarpur of Gomati district, Bishalgarh, Sepahijala district, and Tripura West.
In the wee hours of August 22, information was received by Assam Rifles that women folk were stuck on the roofs of submerged houses in the general area of Bishalgarh, Sepahijala district. Relief columns of Assam Rifles comprising Riflewomen rushed to the location and rescued the stranded women. They not only helped these women to reach the relief camps but also provided essential items. Riflewomen of Assam Rifles have been deployed in flooded areas and are an asset in these challenging times, providing required assistance, especially for women.
On Thursday , as of now, over 750 people have been evacuated all over the state. Medical aid and other assistance are also being provisioned where required.
Assam Rifles is working in close coordination with civil administration and NDRF teams in the state to alleviate the difficulties of stranded citizens.
