Former CM Biplab Deb express confidence over winning of BJP candidates in Boxanagar, Dhanpur seats
Former Tripura Chief Minister and incumbent Rajya Sabha MP , Biplab Kumar Deb said that the both BJP candidates contesting the by-polls from Boxanagar and Dhanpur assembly constituencies will win by doubling the margin of last assembly elections.
Addressing a press conference here at the conference hall of state guest house on Tuesday afternoon, Biplab Kumar Deb highlighting his participation in the Rajya Sabha and release of Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) funds for the development of state said that a total of Rs. 3,39,60,268 fund has been utilizing for 10 projects under his MPLAD fund.
While, by-poll campaign and prospect of BJP candidates, Deb said that a wave of confidence was seen across Boxanagar and Dhanpur assembly constituencies over development of BJP governments led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “People have understand the politics of CPI(M) and other opposition parties and they has also witnessing and taking the benefits of ‘double-engine’ government in Tripura,” said Deb and added that the spontaneous response of voters in all political events of the BJP ensure that both party candidates will win the seats by doubling the winning margin of last assembly elections.
Replying to a media quarry over the Tipra-Motha factor , especially in Dhanpur assembly seat, Deb said that though Motha candidate got over 8000 votes in Dhanpur, a strong bastion of CPI(M), but BJP candidate Smt. Pratima Bhowmik won the seat by 3500 votes.
He said that separate elections have separate factors and this time, the majority of Motha votes will swing into BJP candidates as people will cast their votes in favour of developmental agenda.
Similarly, the party candidate in Boxanagar will also win the elections by defeating CPI(M) candidate with a handsome margin.
He said that the real development of Scheduled Tribes (ST) people in Northeast regions started after Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister of the nation and during the last 9 years, the entire NE region witnessed a holistic development, peace and harmony. “BJP is the only alternative for development of Northeast and voters of Boxanagar and Dhanpur seats will definitely cast their votes on developmental agenda. He also expressed his confidence that Tipra Matha supporters will support BJP candidates .
It may be recalled here that the Dhanpur seat fell vacant after the resignation of Union Minister of state, Smt Pratima Bhowmik and the Boxanagar seat remained vacant after the death of CPI (M)'s Boxanagar MLA Samsul Haque in July this year.
In the last assembly elections, Smt Pramita Bhowmik secured a total of 19,148 votes and defeated her rival candidate Kaushik Chanda of CPI (M) 3,500 votes. CPI (M) candidate got 15,648 votes, while, Tipra-Motha candidate Amiya Dayal Noatia got 8,671 votes, which has played a crucial role to lose the strong bastion of CPI (M), which was represented by former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar.
The by-elections have been necessitated after senior CPI (M) leader and sitting MLA from Boxanagar assembly constituency, Samsul Haque breathed his last after he suffered a cardiac arrest in the wee hours July 19, 2023 last. In the 2023 assembly elections, Haque secured a total of 19,404 votes and defeated his nearest rival BJP candidate Taffajal Hossain by 4,849 votes. Taffajal Hossain secured 14,555 votes.
