Former MLA Dilip Sarkar remembered for exemplary leadership beyond politics: CM
Late MLA Dilip Sarkar had all the qualities required to be a true public leader as he always rose above politics to help people, and following his ideals will be a true tribute to the late leader, said Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Monday.
Dr. Saha said this while participating in the voluntary blood donation camp organized on the occasion of the fifth death anniversary of former MLA Late Dilip Sarkar of Badharghat Assembly Constituency on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said, there is no person in Tripura who has not heard the name of late Dilip Sarkar.
“He had all the qualities needed to be a public leader. Even outside the organization, he established close public relations with people and developed different acquaintances. He organized the organization in the Badharghat area in his own way. He was the MLA of this area for a long time and always helped people during their bad times. He also sold his land to help people,” said Dr. Saha.
The Chief Minister said, “When I was working in Tripura Medical College Hospital. Many people from this area used to go to me for treatment. During the conversation, they used to talk about the late MLA. At that time I was not directly involved in politics. People looked at him with great respect. Everyone used to say in one sentence that Dilip Da is with us. So we have no reason to worry. People used to elect him not by watching the party but for his work. On his death anniversary, taking his unfinished work forward in the right direction will be a true tribute to the late leader,” he added.
Prominent people of the area including MLA Mina Rani Sarkar, BJP Sadar District President Asim Bhattacharya, Badharghat Mandal President Keshab Nandan Dutta were present in this programme.
