Four days budget session of assembly commence from July 7
The budget session of Tripura legislative assembly will commence from July 7 and will continue for next four days up to July 13th next.
Speaking with media persons after the meeting of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC), held on Saturday at the assembly complex, Speaker Biswabandhu Sen said that the treasury bench wanted a three-day budget session, but the opposition party raised their objection demanding a five days session.
Speaker Sen also said that in BAC all members of the panel except Congress MLA Birajit Sinha, who is out of the state at the moment were present and BAC unanimously took the decision of a four days session.
The BAC finally decided to conduct the session for four days. The budget would be tabled on July 7 itself. The session would remain suspended on the 8th and 9th since those are holidays, the next working day of the House would be July 10. Since July 11 is a holiday, the business will resume on July 12 and continue till July 13, said Sen.
He also said that two bills – Tripura Goods and Service Tax Bill and Tripura Appropriation Bill – would be placed in the session apart from the Budget. During the four days budget session, other assembly proceedings will also be conducted as per the rules of the assembly including question hours, supplementary etc.
The Assembly had earlier passed an Rs 9,066.56 crore vote on accounts on March 27 to ensure the smooth conduct of development works in the state till a full-fledged budget is tabled.
The government had said that it expects Tripura to record an 8.95 per cent Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) growth rate in the current financial year.
He also said that two bills – Tripura Goods and Service Tax Bill and Tripura Appropriation Bill – would be placed in the session apart from the Budget.
The first session of the 13th Tripura Assembly started on March 24 with the tabling of supplementary grants of Rs 3,065.37 crore as per custom to adjust additional expenditure incurred in the last financial year above the budget estimate of Rs 26,892.67 crore.
However, since the new government was sworn in barely 19 days before the session commenced, the government had proposed a sum of Rs 9,066.56 crore votes on accounts for the next four months till the full-fledged budget is prepared and tabled in the House.
