Four drug paddlers arrested from Agartala Railway station with contraband items
After bursting Ganja smuggling network from Tripura to Bihar with direct involvement of pantry men of Deogarh Express and arrest of Bihar based six Railway staff, the Government Railway Police (GRP) again on Wednesday arrested three more drug peddlers including two men from Agartala Railway station and seized contraband items.
While giving details, OC of GRP station of Agartala Railway station, Tapash Das said that security forces noticed suspected movements of three including two females at the platform number-1 of Agartala railway station on Tuesday afternoon and detained them.
During a search in their baggage, GRP recovered six packets of dry Ganja (Cannabis) weighing 4.155 kilograms, hidden in ladies bags.
He said that arrested persons were residents of Bihar state and they were frequently travelling in between Tripura and Bihar through long distance trains to smuggle Ganja in less quantities to evade suspicion of security forces.
Arrested peddlers were identified Puja Devi(30), Reshmi Kumari (21) and Pravesh Kumar Singh (39) and they were produced before a local court with police remand appeals for further interrogation in a case registered under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act 1985.
In another raid at the platform number-1 of Agartala Railway station on Tuesday evening, GRP and Railway protection Force (RPF) arrested another Bihar boy, identified as Sani Kumar (19) of Patna city and recovered 200 bottles of contraband cough syrup, Excough under his possession, which has worth of Rs. 80,000.
On Wednesday , arrested drug smuggler was produced before court with police remand appeal under a specific NDPS Act case.
