At least four people were injured in a serious road accident on the Kailashahar-Dharmanagar National Highway near Bhagaban Nagar Ward No. 3 on Sunday afternoon.
The accident occurred following a head-on collision between a Commander jeep bearing registration number RJ-13-UA-0107 and a tipper truck bearing registration number TR-05-D-1716, creating panic in the area.
According to Commander jeep driver Mithun Paul, the vehicle was moving along a straight stretch of road when the tipper truck suddenly turned right without giving any signal. Unable to control the vehicle, the Commander jeep crashed directly into the truck.
The collision left Commander jeep driver Mithun Paul, Paritosh Paul, and Rajib Sharma seriously injured. The driver of the tipper truck also sustained minor injuries, though his identity was not known at the time of reporting.
Hearing the loud impact, local residents rushed to the spot and rescued the injured persons before shifting them to Unakoti District Hospital for treatment. The injured are currently undergoing medical care.
Meanwhile, police from Kailashahar Police Station reached the accident site, brought the situation under control, and have started an investigation into the incident.
