Four more pantry men of Deogarh express arrested for Ganja smuggling
After bursting a Ganja smuggling racket involving pantry men of Indian Railway, the Government Railway Police (GRP) again on Monday arrested four more pantry men involved with smuggling of dry Cannabis (Ganja) from Agartala to Bihar state.
Earlier, on Sunday GRP in association with Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Agartala Railway station busted a big network of Railway staff involved with smuggling of dry Cannabis (Ganja) from Agartala to Bihar state and recovered huge quantities of Ganja with the arrest of two pantry men.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of GRP in Agartala Railway station, Tapash Das said that on Sunday based on secret information that a group of Railway staff were involved with smuggling of narcotic items from Agartala to other parts of the country, a joint contingent of GRP and RPF stopped the movement of a food cart of pantry wagon of Deogarh express and forces have recovered a total of 282 packets inside 24 cartons and dry Ganja of 298.55 kilograms inside these packets, worth Rs. 40 lakh.
GRP have arrested two pantry men identified as Butto Kumar (27) of Begusarai district of Bihar and Ankul Kumar (23) of Lakhisarai district of Bihar under a case of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act 1985.
Based on the confessional statements of both arrested pantry men, the GRP on Monday has also managed to arrest four more pantry men, working in Deogarh express before their escaping bid towards their native state, Bihar.
He said arrested smugglers were identified as Bikash Kumar (26) of Lakhisarai district of Bihar, Kishan Kumar Raut (25) of Mengerai district, Goutam Kumar (37) of Begusarai and Sushil Kumar (27) of Begusarai district of Bihar.
Das said that all arrested four youths were actively involved with transportation of dry Ganja from Agartala to Bihar by using pantry vans of Deogarh express.
He added that arrested youth were produced before a local court on Monday with police remand appeals for further interrogation to unearth the entire network of Ganja smuggling through Railway.
