Fourteen months old toddler rape, murdered by maternal grandfather in Panisagar

In a heartrending incident, body of 14-months old recovered from North Padmabil village of Panisagar under North Tripura district after she was allegedly raped and murder by her maternal grandfather.

After the shocking and brutal incident, accused escaped from the spot and he was also detained by some local villagers of Nilam Bazar area of Assam on Saturday.

Police sources said that a specific case under relevant sections of BNS section -4(2) of POCSO Act was registered at Panisagar police station.

Police added that when the deceased toddler roamed around her house, the accused had taken it on Saturday and on Sunday morning, the dead body of the toddler was recovered from a nearby agricultural land.

Police added that accused maternal grandfather  Joynal Uddin (44), a resident of ward number 5 of Uttar Padmabil Gram Panchayat in Panisagar subdivision was arrested by Assam police and he will be brought to Panisagar police station for further legal proceedings.

It may be recalled here that in an incident of extreme degradation of humanity has come to light from the Panisagar subdivision area of North Tripura district on Sunday, where a maternal grandfather after raped, brutally killed an innocent 14-month-old baby girl. After committing the crime, accused Joynal Uddin buried the child in an agriculture field.

On Saturday night, family members panicked when they could not find the child anywhere and informed the Panisagar police station. Later, with the help of the police, a search was conducted in the land 100-150 meters away from the house and the child's dead body was recovered buried in the ground.

Police, after collecting all evidence by its Forensic team, have sent the body to hospital morgue for autopsy.

Meanwhile, a special police team of Panisagar police station has already started the process of bringing the accused to Tripura.  SDPO(Panisagar) said that they  have started an investigation into the entire incident.
