Giant GRC 2025: Cycling Sunday strengthens Agartala’s cycling movement

The Cycling Sunday initiative, originally launched by Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, continues to gain momentum as Agartala witnessed yet another successful ride under the Giant GRC 2025 series.

The event was officially flagged off by Dr. Pradip Kumar Chakraborty, Secretary, Youth Affairs and Sports Department, Tripura, in the presence of esteemed dignitaries, including S.B. Nath, Director of Youth Affairs and Sports, Tripura; Arindam Gagoi, In-Charge of SAI (Sports Authority of India); Dr. Surya Kanta Paul, High Performance Director, Khelo India; and Assistant Director Bharath Nigam.

The ride, which commenced from SAI Badharghat, saw the participation of 20-25 cyclists from the Agartala Cycloholics Foundation. Among the notable riders were Ayan Debbarma and the passionate Chandan Bhowmik, whose enthusiasm served as an inspiration to fellow cyclists.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Chakraborty emphasized the importance of Cycling Sunday as a regular initiative to encourage fitness and sustainable transportation. Director S.B. Nath highlighted the utility of cycling for both recreation and daily commuting, reinforcing the commitment to promoting a healthier and greener lifestyle.

With Cycling Sunday now becoming a significant movement in Agartala and Giant GRC 2025 adding further momentum, the city is steadily evolving into a cycling-friendly hub, inspiring more people to embrace cycling for a sustainable future.
