Goalabasti murder, clash: Eight among Army, BSF jawans arrested
Within 24-hours of the brutal incident of clash over a land dispute in Goalabasti area under New Capital Complex (NCC) police station, altogether 8 accused persons including two women, one serving jawan of Indian Army and another serving jawan of BSF were arrested for their direct involvement of killing of one sexagenarian man on Sunday night.
Police said that disputing land over boundary of two houses, fierce fighting among two groups of people erupted on Sunday night at Goalabasti area of Khejurbagan under NCC police station, as a result one Nagina Prasad Roy (65) was beaten to death by these suspected accused persons and during clash among two family members , altogether 7 more people had also sustained injuries.
After clashes erupted among members of two families and their relatives and neighbours, a group of mob has also ransacked a house and hundreds people including women and children has also gheraoed the New Capital Complex police station demanding immediate arrest of all assailants responsible for the killing of one sexagenarian, Nagina Prasad Roy.
While, on Monday afternoon, the relatives and neighbours of victim Nagina Prasad Roy with his dead body blockaded the VIP road at the entry gate of Civil Secretariat demanding immediate arrest of all culprits involved with the murder of Nagina Prasad. Later, police rushed to the spot and assured all agitated people that all accused involved in the murder will soon be arrested and agitated locals withdrew their road blockade.
Giving details, the OC of NCC police station Sushanta Deb said that the scuffle took place between two families over land boundary last night. In the scuffle, one person died and a few others were injured. Police investigation is going on and so far they have arrested eight persons including two women, one Army jawan and another BSF jawan for their direct involvement.
He said that all the accused persons including two brothers Bijendar Roy(30), an Indian Army jawan of 23-Para, posted at Agra (56 APO), Sachindar Roy (32), a BSF jawan of 67th battalion, posted at Sambha sector of Jammu are the sons of Ram Sagar Roy (65), who was also arrested. Other five arrested accused persons are identified as Dinesh Roy (36), a retired Army jawan, Nashibi Lal Roy (60), Ajit Kumar Roy (18), Smt Mina Devi (60), wife of Ram Sagar Roy and Smt Shila Devi (45), wife of arrested Nashibi Lal Roy and all are residents of Goalabasti area of Khejur Bagan.
OC Sushanta Deb said all arrested eight accused persons were produced before a local court for further legal action and police are also looking to arrest other accused involved with thrashing of deceased Nagina Prasad Roy.
He added that the iron rod and other lethal weapons, which were used to hit the victim, had been seized from the spot.
