In a major anti-narcotics operation, police from PR Bari police station of Rajnagar area of South Tripura district seized more than 122 kg of dry Cannabis (Ganja) and an alleged vehicle used for transporting the contraband from Manaipathar area under the same police station on Sunday.

Acting on a tip-off, a team from PR Bari police station conducted a raid at Killing Para in Manaipathar. The operation was led by Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ratan Ravi Das, along with SIs Niran Debbarma and Bikash Debnath, DCM of Belonia and the district mobile forensic team.

During a thorough search of the residence of Dulal Majumder, police reportedly recovered the Ganja concealed inside four plastic drums buried underground. Police said the total quantity seized was more than 122 kg.

Police also seized an Altroz car bearing registration number TR-08-E-0656, allegedly used for transporting the contraband. The house owner, Dulal Majumder, and his son Sagar Majumder were arrested from the spot in connection with the seizure.

According to OC Ratan Ravi Das, PR Bari Police Station Case No. 30/2026 has been registered under Sections 20(b)(ii)(C), 25 and 29 of the NDPS Act.

The OC said police have adopted a zero-tolerance policy against narcotics and that further investigation would identify and apprehend others allegedly involved in the network. Police are continuing their investigation into the source and intended destination of the seized contraband.
