Humanitarian support extended to fire-affected police personnel by Longtharai
On January 26, 2026 last, in a tragic and heart-rending incident at the Old Agartala police outpost under West Tripura district, a devastating fire reduced a crucial shelter used by on-duty police personnel to ashes.
In the incident, one room was completely gutted, resulting in the destruction of uniforms and many essential personal belongings of the police personnel stationed there—items vital to their daily lives and professional duties. The loss has had a deep personal and professional impact on the affected personnel.
In this difficult and crisis-ridden time, Longtharai took the initiative to stand beside the affected police personnel as part of its moral and social responsibility by launching a humanitarian assistance programme. On Friday evening, essential uniforms were handed over to the affected police personnel to help them resume their normal lives and official responsibilities.
The programme was not merely a charitable act; rather, it was an expression of mutual empathy, respect, and gratitude. Held in the presence of senior administrative and police officials, the event highlighted the importance of human values, social solidarity, and standing beside one another during times of disaster.
Police personnel, who silently and tirelessly safeguard society by maintaining law and order, are our unsung guardians. Any calamity in their lives affects not only them individually but also the overall stability of society. It was with this understanding that Longtrai undertook this support initiative.
It was further observed that humanitarian concern and social responsibility are integral parts of the organisation’s activities. The organisation reaffirmed its commitment to continue extending sympathy and assistance to people affected by any disaster in the future.
The humanitarian initiative was led by Longtharai’s Managing Director, Ratan Debnath, in the presence of General Manager Subrata Debnath and other officials. Officer-in-Charge of the Out Post, Sanjay Saha, lauded the initiative.
Concerned circles expressed optimism that this humanitarian assistance programme would help restore the morale and self-confidence of the affected police personnel. At the same time, people and organisations from all sections of society were urged to come forward and participate in such humanitarian initiatives.
