Husband arrested with pistol, who tried to kill his wife
A husband, who wanted to kill his wife, was arrested with a country made pistol from Hapania area of Agartala on Tuesday after he escaped from a jungle in Kalamchowra, who had fired two rounds targeting his wife.
While, his injured wife somehow escaped from death and was admitted to Tripura Medical College (TMC) in Agartala with bullet injuries in her leg and hand.
Giving details, a police officer of Amtali police station said that accused husband, Balbir Singh of Kartik Choumohani of Hapania issuing petty family disputes went to a jungle under Kalamchowra police station of Sepahijala district with his wife Kabita Reang. After reaching the jungle, accused Balbir Singh fired two rounds from a country-made pistol targeting his wife, but luckily Kabita Reang escaped from life.
After the incident, Balbir Singh escaped from the incident spot towards his native place and with the help of some local villagers; injured Kibita was admitted to TMC.
Police added that immediately after the firing incident, Kalamchowra police lodged the FIR and informed their counterpart at Amtali to arrest the accused man.
Based on the information, a police team from Amtali police station laid a trap at Hapania and managed to detain Balbir, who was coming from Kalamchowra with his motorbike. During a search of his motorbike, police recovered live rounds and a country-made pistol.
Police also said that arrested accused will be handed over to police personnel of Kalamchowra police station for further legal action.
