IMD celebrates 151st foundation day with open house programme in Agartala
The Meteorological Centre, Agartala, under the India Meteorological Department (IMD), on Thursday successfully organized an Open House Programme at its premises to mark the 151st Foundation Day of the IMD.
The programme began with a welcome address by the Head of the Meteorological Centre, Agartala, Dr. Partha Roy, who highlighted IMD’s 151 years of dedicated service to the nation. He emphasized the crucial role of meteorological services in disaster risk reduction, weather preparedness, and ensuring public safety.
The Open House Programme aimed to enhance public awareness about IMD’s various services and initiatives. It also provided an interactive platform for stakeholders and citizens to engage with meteorologists seek clarifications, and share suggestions and feedback.
Officers and staff from the State Disaster Management Authority and District Disaster Management authorities of the Tripura government, along with representatives from other concerned departments, participated in the programme. Their active involvement and valuable inputs helped strengthen coordination between the IMD and the state government.
On the occasion, it was also highlighted that the Meteorological Centre, Agartala, was awarded the “Best Meteorological Centre” among all IMD Meteorological Centres across India for the year 2025. The award was presented by the Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Earth Sciences, Dr. Jitendra Singh, at Mausam Bhavan, New Delhi, during a function organized at IMD Headquarters as part of the 151st Foundation Day celebrations.
The Meteorological Centre, Agartala, expressed sincere gratitude to all stakeholders and participants for their cooperation in making the 151st Foundation Day celebrations a grand success.
