Justice MS Ramachandra Rao new CJ of High Court of Tripura
The Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court, Justice MS Ramachandra Rao has been appointed as new chief justice of High Court of Tripura by replacing incumbent CJ, Aparesh Kumar Singh.
A notification issued by the Union Ministry of Law and Justice on Monday (July 14) said that ‘ in exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article-222 of the Constitution of India, the President after consultation with the Chief Justice of India, is pleased to transfer Shri MS Ramachandra Rao, Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court to be Chief Justice of the High Court of Tripura and direct him to assume charge of his office in the Tripura High Court.’
Earlier, on May 28, the Supreme Court Collegium had recommended the transfer of the Chief Justice of the High Court of Tripura, Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh to the Telangana High Court and Jharkhand High Court Chief Justice M.S. Ramachandra Rao was proposed for transfer to Tripura as next Chief Justice.
The decision to transfer Chief Justice Singh was taken by the Supreme Court Collegium in a meeting held on May 26, 2025.
Finally, on Monday (July 14), the Union Law and Justice Ministry issued the order of transfer to Justice MS Ramachandra Rao as new Chief Justice of the High Court of Tripura.
