Lady smuggler of Bihar state arrested with contraband items
One more woman drug smuggler from Bihar state was arrested by Amtali police with contraband cough syrup from Agartala Railway station road before her departure through a long distance train along with an auto-rickshaw driver.
Giving details, officer-in-charge (OC) of Amtali police station, Himadri Sarkar said that during regular patrolling in the Agartala Railway station road in Siddhi Ashram area on Thursday morning, police team noticed suspicious movement of an auto-rickshaw.
Police patrolling team stopped that auto-rickshaw, where only a lady passenger with driver was travelling and over their abnormal talks, police initiated a search in the auto-rickshaw and in the belongings of the woman passenger. During the search, police recovered 50 bottles of contraband cough syrup, Phensedyl hidden in the body of the woman, identified as Rupa Devi of Bihar state, who often along with her associates smuggled different kinds of drugs in between Agartala and Bihar state.
OC said that during preliminary investigation, police found that arrested lady smuggler Rupa Devi was running a big network of smugglers and they often deliver their consignment clandestinely through railway.
On Thursday afternoon, she along with her auto-rickshaw driver forwarded before a local court under a case of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act 1985 with police remand appeals.
