Large quantities of Ganja recovered from Moharcherra roadside
The Khowai district police on Friday recovered large quantities of dry Ganja (Cannabis) during their regular patrolling from two trolley bags fallen near the road Moharcherra under Teliamura police station.
Police said that, Sub-Inspector (SI) Rajak Jamatia of Teliamura police station started routine patrolling and the team noticed a trolley and some bags lying near the roadside in the Moharcherra area, which seemed suspicious.
Upon noticing the unusual presence of the bags, the police, with the help of local residents, opened them and found dry Ganja inside. Later, after weighing the contents, it was confirmed that the total amount was 45 kilograms. The recovered Ganja has been brought to the police station for further investigation.
Police said that an investigation is underway to determine who is involved in this case and to arrest them.
Police sources claimed that it is being assumed that the cannabis might have been intended for smuggling via train. Somehow, the smugglers were unable to carry out the operation and left the bags by the roadside.
