In a major anti-narcotics operation, a joint team of the 8th Battalion of the Tripura State Rifles (TSR) and personnel of Manu police station seized 10,000 Yaba tablets and detained two suspected drug traffickers during a raid at Lambabil under same police station of Dhalai district on Sunday.
Police sources said that the operation was carried out at around 11 AM based on specific intelligence inputs. During the raid, the joint team intercepted two individuals and recovered 10,000 Yaba tablets from their possession. The contraband was packed in 50 small packets, each containing 200 tablets. The seized narcotics were confiscated following all legal formalities.
The detained persons have been identified as Pampaiya Reang (24) and Parshuram Reang (38, who were moving through a motorbike to deliver the consignment.
Police have registered a case at Manu police station under Section 21 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
An investigation is underway to trace the source and intended destination of the seized Yaba tablets and to identify other individuals involved in the alleged drug trafficking network.
The seizure is part of the ongoing efforts by Tripura Police and security forces to curb the trafficking of narcotic substances across the state.
