Longtharai spices salesman assaulted in Belonia, robbed of Rs. 2 Lakh from delivery van
In a bizarre incident, one salesman of state’s renowned spices industry was severely assaulted over denial of Durga puja subscription and miscreants had also looted Rs. 2 lakh at Belonia under South Tripura district on Friday night.
Sources said that a salesman of Longtharai Gura Masala (spices), Biswajit Saha on Friday night at about 9 PM with a spices delivery van of the company moving in front of Blood Mouth Club of Belonia town and all of sudden, three members of the club, identified as Utpal Baidya, Suresh Chandra Nath and Rakhal Debnath stopped the van and asked the driver, who is the in-charge of the van.
Then, these miscreants forcefully pulled down the salesman Biswajit Saha and started assaulting him severally over allegation of denial of Durga Puja subscription. Miscreants after assaulting the salesman, they also looted Rs. 2 lakh of collection amount of the Longtharai spices.
The victim, Biswajit Saha, reported that the accused after physically assaulting him, miscreants had also tried to attack the salesman with a sharp cutting weapon, but the intelligent driver somehow managed to escape from the spot with injured Biswajit Saha.
Later, on Saturday morning the injured salesman was hospitalized at Belonia hospital with unbearable pain in many parts of his body. Terrified salesmen had also filed an FIR against these miscreants at Belonia police station demanding justice.
The incident has raised security concerns among local residents and created panic among business communities.
Police sources said that they have registered the FIR and started an investigation based on the complaint and launched a search to trace all accused men.
