Medical negligence: One woman died in a nursing home after gall bladder operation
In another case of gross medical negligence by a private nursing home, a 40-years old woman died after gall bladder operation and nursing home authorities referred the dead woman to GB Hospital.
Sources said that one Khuku Rani Roy(40) of Rajarbag area of Udaipur was admitted to a private nursing home located at Dhaleshwar road number-13 of Agartala on November 13 afternoon.
One specialist surgeon Dr Amit Kumar Singh operated her on Tuesday evening at that nursing home and after two hours of operation, the patient was released from the operation theatre and shifted to general ward.
Her relatives speaking with media persons said that she was conscious after operation and all of the relatives including her husband left the nursing towards their rented home in Tuesday midnight. But, in the wee hours of Wednesday, nursing home authorities called them that the condition of their patient deteriorating and she have to shift GB Hospital. When, the husband and other relatives of the patient reached nursing some at about 4 AM of Wednesday, they found Khuku Rani Roy already died and nursing home authorities forcing them to shift her into GB Hospital.
Later, the victim family called the police and registered a specific complaint of medical negligence and police shifted the body to GB Hospital morgue for autopsy.
On Wednesday after, after post-mortem, the mortal remains of Khuku Rani were handed over to her relatives for last rites. The shocked relatives of victim lady also said that they had paid Rs. 1.30 lakh for gall bladder operation and their patient was complete health except her gall bladder problems. The victim family has also registered a specific complaint before police and demanded stringent action against nursing home.
