Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr Manik Saha on Thursday said that the National Cadet Corps (NCC) in Tripura has always been at the forefront not just in parade but also in the service of society.

Dr Saha said this after inaugurating the Tripura NCC Fest 2025 at the Tripura Institute of Technology (TIT) in Narsingarh, on the outskirts of Agartala. He said that in the year 1970, when he was in Class 11, he was in the NCC.

“Whatever I have learnt from there, I am not going to forget, it was my foundation. I also received an award. I was also not aware that such things would happen. The way NCC cadets are getting benefits now, earlier we did not receive such things. The new cadets must work with full dedication. Earlier there was no such thing called patriotism in society but now after Prime Minister Narendra Modi we can see this in society,” said Dr Saha.

He said that the NCC youths are not soldiers but in the coming days they will go to the Army, Navy or Air Force, and for them NCC will be a foundation.

“Indiscipline always works like a magnet; it attracts people, but NCC will help people to remain disciplined. Today we are not just celebrating a festival but we are celebrating the spirit of unity, discipline and the spirit of service that defines the National Cadet Corps. Seeing you in khaki and the bright faces of youths assembled here, I am reassured that the future of Tripura is in safe and capable hands. NCC is not merely an organization but a movement,” said Dr Saha.

Dr Saha informed that NCC was established in July 1948 and its footprint in Tripura has grown steadily.

“It is the largest uniformed youth organization in the world. Tripura NCC Fest 2025 stands as a landmark celebration of youth, discipline and national service in the state of Tripura. It bridges the gap between uniformed services and civil society, allowing the public to witness the grooming of their youths. Living in a border state we understand the vigilance and resilience. Our NCC cadets in Tripura have always been at the forefront not just in parade but also in the service of society,” he added.
