NLU, Tripura signs MoU with RD Dept for legal research, training
The National Law University, Tripura in a step towards fostering legal research and training support for the department of Panchayat signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Rural Development (Panchayat) Department of Tripura government on Monday.
The MoU inked by Prof. Yogesh Pratap Singh, Vice-Chancellor of NLU Tripura and Dr. Sandeep R. Rathod, Secretary, Rural Development and Panchayats, of Tripura government aims to strengthen the academic and research collaborations between the two institutions. Dr. Rathod, welcomed NLU Tripura’s efforts in supporting the Panchayat’s proposal of jointly conceptualizing training programmes, and certificate courses for the functionaries of Panchayati Raj Institutions in Tripura, and the newly elected Panchayat Executive Officers. Dr. Rathod also complimented the steadfast and timely response of NLU Tripura in shouldering the responsibility of building a cadre of Panchayat resource persons at local levels across the Panchayats and blocks of Tripura.
Prof. Yogesh Pratap Singh, Vice-Chancellor, NLU Tripura ushered greater institutional commitment on behalf of NLU Tripura in developing training curriculum, conducting empirical research projects for the Rural Development Department, and lending resource persons to the Panchayat Raj Training Institute (PRTI) of Tripura. Prasun De, Director Panchayats, reflected on the journey of culmination of the MoU and that the Vice-Chancellor and Registrar of NLU Tripura have already started delivering training sessions for the 360 Panchayat Executive Officers trained at PRTI, AD Nagar, Agartala as part of 45 days training programme. Ashutosh Pandey, Director, Tripura Judicial Academy also graced the occasion and termed this MOU as a turning point in the academic and research journey of NLU Tripura in the State.
Prof. (Dr.) Nachiketa Mittal, Registrar of NLU Tripura expressed gratitude on behalf of the university and observed that this MOU marks a significant milestone for both the institutions in empowering thousands of Panchayati Raj functionaries in the State. Dr. Subhayan Chakraborty, who coordinated the signing of the MOU on behalf of the Rural Development Department, Ashit Kumar Das, Joint Director, Anurag Sen, Deputy Director extended cooperation in implementation of the MoU. Er. Aparajita Banerjee, Assistant Registrar coordinated the MoU signing ceremony on behalf of NLU Tripura. Faculty members from PRTI and NLU Tripura participated in the event.
