Nyaya Sangam 1.0 – A conclave on legal aid and pro bono services at NLU, Tripura

The National Law University, Tripura, Pro Bono club, and Legal Aid Society organized its flagship event, Nyaya Sangam 1.0 – A Conclave on Legal Aid and Pro Bono Service on 8th September 2025 in the NLU Tripura Campus with the participation of about 200 law students of the different Law Institutions of Tripura.
The event was graced with the address of Dr. Justice Amarnath Goud’s inspiring remarks about the celebrated Journey of the Tripura Judiciary in reducing the number of pending cases significantly in both the higher courts and the lower courts with zealous conviction of legal voluntarism and legal accountability of the Bar and Bench.
The Conclave included a panel discussion with a Senior Professor from the Faculty of Law, Banaras Hindu University Prof. S. K. Gupta, Director of Panchayat, Government of Tripura, Mr. Prasun De; Secretary, DLSA, West Tripura, Mr. Amarjit Dey and an experienced Para Legal Volunteer, Mr. Rajib Paul. The dignitaries discussed the prospects and scopes of various collaborative plans of action, standing long due viz. adequate intra-state collaboration of the student committees of all the law institutes, scopes of inter-state university collaboration, better collaboration of the student committees with the Legal Ais Societies and Pro Bono agencies. etc.
While the event touched upon various nitty-gritties of the scopes of inculcating the socio-legal accountability of the student committees, Prof. Dr. Yogesh Pratap Singh, Vice Chancellor, National Law University, Tripura, also hinted at the scopes and prospects of collaboration of the student committees with the panchayat departments of the government of Tripura, laying a new innovative outlook of a collaborative approach.
The conclave was participated by faculties and student members of the Legal Aid Society and Pro bono club of the all the other Law Institutes of the West Tripura namely the Tripura Government Law College, the ICFAI University Tripura Law School, The Techno-India University Tripura Law School. With the primary objective of discussing the ideal role of student committees like Pro Bono and Legal Aid Societies.
