Pedestrian killed by a speeding truck at Belonia
In a tragic road mishap, one pedestrian was crushed to death by a speeding truck at Kalinagar area of Belonia under South Tripura district on Thursday afternoon.
Police sources said that the deceased youth was yet to be identified as his face was totally compressed after a wheel of the truck dashed him on his back, when the pedestrian was walking through Rajib Kanya area to Kalinagar on Thursday afternoon.
Soon after the road mishap, local people and firefighters rushed to the spot and they shifted the youth to Belonia hospital, where a visiting doctor declared him dead. While local people managed to detain the ill-fated truck, but accused truck driver managed to escape from the spot.
OC of Belonia police station, Sukanta Tripura said that the identity of the deceased youth is yet to be ascertained and they started investigation to establish the identity of the killed youth and to arrest the accused driver.
