Pradyot failed to control Tipra-Motha workers; attacks out of frustration, says Jitendra Chaudhury

Amidst ongoing fight among ruling BJP and its alliance partner, regional Tipra-Motha over violent attacked on BJP workers at Asharambari Assembly constituency during the ‘Mann-Ki-Baat’ program of Prime Minister Narendra Modi by unruly workers of Motha, the leader of opposition (LoP) strongly criticized Motha for alleged attack on BJP’s event.
Opposition leader and CPI (M) state secretary , Jitendra Chaudhury addressing a gathering of party workers at Kamalpur in Dhalai district on Monday directly criticized the supremo of Tipra-Motha, Pradyot Kishore Debbarma for allegedly failing to restrain his party workers.
He claimed that the recent attack on the BJP’s Mann Ki Baat programme was carried out by Tipra Motha workers and described it as an act of frustration.
On Sunday, as many as nine BJP party workers were injured after Tipra Motha workers allegedly launched attacks during the Mann Ki Baat program at Asharambari under Khowai District.
Though Pradyot has denied the allegation, he claimed that the attack was carried out by CPI (M) due to a personal feud against the Mandal President of the area, who was once a CPI (M) leader.
Chaudhury on Monday said that the attack was done by Tipra Motha workers. Not a single CPI (M) worker was involved. There are some workers in Tipra Motha who were once with CPI (M)—then Pradyot should have taken steps against them. His majority of supporters were from CPI (M), said Chaudhury.
He claimed that when CPI (M) was in power, they never attacked another party’s programs, and Pradyot was in Congress.
He asked if CPI (M) ever attacked him? Now Pradyot’s people are continuing to attack various party workers. “He totally failed to control his party workers and is now blaming other parties and he is failing to control his own people because of the forgery created among his followers,” said Chaudhury.
At present a vast section of Tipra-Motha followers are suffering from frustration, and out of that frustration, such incidents are taking place, said Chaudhury.
The opposition leader added that over frustration due to the role of top leaders of Tipra-Motha, the party workers committing such attacks, which is never acceptable in a democratic format of political parties.
He also suggested to Pradyot that instead of blaming other political parties, he should control his followers.
It may be recalled here that there were 30 people named in the FIR over attack on BJP programme by Tipra-Motha supporters and large contingents of security personnel led by senior police officials are camping in the Asharambari Assembly constituency in Khowai district to prevent any escalation of tensions.
On Sunday Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha said that the police have been directed to take appropriate actions against the attackers and he told the media that “On Sunday, the manner in which Tipra Motha workers carried out the violent attack at Asharambari Assembly constituency during the ‘Mann-Ki-Baat’ program of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is utterly dangerous and undemocratic.”
