Renowned trader of Sabroom died in GB Hospital after battling life for six days
One renowned businessman of Sabroom town of South Tripura district died at GB Hospital after battling for life for the last six days in the wee hours of Thursday, who was dashed by a speeding bike rider from his back on November 24 last.
Police said that deceased businessman identified as Gour Sundar Basak, popularly known for his sweet shop in the entire Sabroom subdivision had met a tragic road accident on November 24 night, when he was returning home after attending a social ceremony in the locality of Ananda Para under Sabrrom police station.
Police sources said that one unknown motorbike rider allegedly in an intoxicated condition dashed Gour Sundar Basak from his back at heavy speed. As a result, Basak suffered critical head injuries and after the accident, firefighters shifted him to Sabroom hospital. Later, in the same night, he was referred to the trauma centre of GB Hospital in critical condition.
Due to his deteriorated condition, Gour Sundar Basak was shifted to the ICU of the hospital and after battling for life for the last six days, in the wee hours of Thursday Basak succumbed due to his critical head injuries. On Thursday afternoon, after the post-mortem, the mortal remains of Basak were handed over to his relatives for last rites. His death has cast a shadow of deep grief and mourning in the Sabroom subdivision.
