Second National Lok Adalat resolved 70.13 % pending cases

The second National Lok Adalat for the year 2024  organized on Saturday across the state  to resolve 17, 938 pending cases has resolved about 70.13 % of pending cases with collection of settlement amount of Rs. 2.23 crore.

The Member secretary Tripura State Legal Services Authority (TSLSA), Juma Datta Chowdhury said that based on the directives of National Legal Service Authority, a total of 42 courts of Tripura including High Court has set up across the state to resolve the pending cases of motor vehicle act and appeals cases, NI act, matrimonial cases, civil and criminal compoundable cases, family disputes, bank’s non-performing asset case, disposal of Traffic Chillan cases etc.

Juma Datta Chowdhury added that altogether 17, 938 pending cases has been taken up in courts for disposal including 4,074 pre-litigative cases,  13,864 pending cases including 4074 bank’s non-performing asset, MACT cases, traffic challan cases, land dispute cases, appeals and trial cases, cases of matrimonial dispute,  cases of cheque bounce(NI Act), compensation under Motor Vehicle Act cases and other cases taken up in the  42 courts across eight districts of the state including in Agartala.

One bench of National Lok Adalat has also been set up at the High Court of Tripura, where 8 pending cases on job related issues have been taken up for resolution.

She added that among 13,864 pending cases, 9,724 cases disposed of with a percentage of 70.13% and with collection of settlement amount of Rs.42, 06,075.

Among 4,074 pre-litigation cases, only 423 cases have been disposed of with collection of settlements amounting to Rs. 1, 81,38,663 and disposal percentage stand at 10.38% and overall disposal of cases percentage stand at 56.16%.
