BSF troops of the Border Out Post (BOP) Srimantapur in Sepahijala district, in a joint operation with personnel from Sonamura police station, conducted a search raid at Bugjor village under Sonamura police station on Saturday.
During the operation, the team recovered one 7.65 mm pistol, one magazine, four rounds of 7.65 mm ammunition, and 200 Yaba tablets from a house. The house owner and his wife were detained for further legal proceedings.
In a separate joint operation, BSF troops, along with officials of Sonamura police station and the Forest Department, Boxanagar, destroyed an extensive illegal ganja cultivation. A total of 2,25,000 ganja plants grown across 38 plots spread over approximately 45 acres of land were uprooted in the interior areas of Boxanagar in Sepahijala district.
These successful operations underline the BSF’s unwavering commitment to curbing trans-border crimes—including drug and arms trafficking—in coordination with sister agencies, ensuring the safety and security of the people of Tripura.
