Senior journalist Dulal Chakraborty passed away
Senior journalist Dulal Chakraborty (71), a former government employee breathed his last at his home near Jagannath Bari temple in Agartala from a massive cardiac arrest on Sunday morning.
The Agartala press club and other media unions have expressed their deep shock after the sudden death of Dulal Chakraborty, who is survived by his wife and married daughter.
Dulal Chakraborty after his retirement from his government job from Information and Cultural Affairs (ICA) department, started working in journalistic activities by joining the vernacular Bengali daily ‘Syandan Patrika’. After a few years he joined another Bengali daily ‘Tripura Darpan’ and in last, he joined newly launched Bengali daily ‘Rashtriya Kantha’ and was working in it till his death.
A man dedicated to journalism Dulal Chakraborty, known in the media fraternity as Dulal da to all his senior and junior colleagues in the profession, was a popular man because of his friendly nature. After the news of his death spread many media persons including office bearers of the Agartala Press Club visited his home.
Later, his mortal remains were brought to Agartala press club, media persons including president of Agartala press club Jayanta Chakraborty and Secretary Ramakanta Dey paid their floral tributes.
At the Battala crematorium where Dulal Chakraborty’s mortal remains had been taken for last rites the Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Dipak Majumder paid his tributes to the departed soul.
