Seven cases from Tripura were resolved during the three-day Special Lok Adalat organised by the Supreme Court, bringing relief to litigants through speedy disposal of pending matters.
According to a press release issued by the Tripura State Legal Services Authority (TSLSA), Member Secretary Bed Pratim Debbarma said that a four-judge bench headed by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant took up 181 cases from Tripura for hearing during the Special Lok Adalat.
Of these, seven land acquisition (LA) cases related to the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) were successfully settled.
The hearings were conducted through video conferencing, with the parties participating from the District and Sessions Court in Agartala.
Debbarma said advocate Joy Kishan Saha represented the applicants from Tripura before the Supreme Court, while advocate Saurabh Kumar Lal appeared on behalf of ONGC in the seven cases that were disposed of.
Present at the Agartala court complex during the proceedings were TSLSA Deputy Secretary Rajarshi Chakraborty, West District Legal Services Authority Secretary Ramanuj Bhattacharya, Judicial Officer Souptik Ghosh, and other officials.
The Supreme Court had organised the Special Lok Adalat from August 21 to August 24 as part of a nationwide initiative to ensure the speedy settlement of pending cases from different states.
