On World Environment Day on 5th June, at Shyam Sundar Co Jewellers - have always raised a hue and cry about the damage being done by irresponsible deforestation - leading to the threat of global warming and the fear of an impending disaster in terms of risks to survival of life on this planet.
‘In previous years, we have gone to town with our message 'The Future Of Earth Is In Our Hands' and the call to 'Come, let us get to the root cause of global warming and try to undo the damage'.
This call, in Kolkata and Tripura, included multi -media awareness campaigns to spread the message, tree planting drives at parks and other public places, maintenance of greenery at Housing Estates and gifting of saplings from our showrooms - for customers to take home and give it the ground to grow.
"This year, to mark 'World Environment Day', we have organized a 3-day programme titled 'Green Is Gold' - from 5th to 7th June - to reach out to people at popular patches of green like the Rabindra Sarovar Lakeside in Kolkata and the Heritage Park in Agartala - where health conscious citizens come to take a walk and catch a breath of fresh air under the shade of trees - with the venues providing the right backdrop and environment for the message to sink in", said Rupak Saha, Director, Shyam Sundar Co Jewellers.
"The 3-day programme is titled 'Green Is Gold' because the green cover of earth is worth its weight in gold", explained Saha, adding, "And the objective of presenting saplings at large is to spread consciousness of the cause and the urgent need to contribute towards it”.
