Shyam Sundar Co Jewellers presents ‘Swarnagram Shikshalaya’ at Warengbari
'Swarnagram' is an initiative of Shyam Sundar Co Jewellers that is dedicated to showcase Warengbari, in Gomati district, as a model village project.
And ‘Swarnagram Shikshalaya’ is a residential school project of Shyam Sundar Co Jewellers that has been adopted - in collaboration with Glory Academy, Warengbari – to add to existing facilities and amenities for resident students, provide proper nutrition and study material, organise dedicated teachers, sports instructors and scholarships for meritorious students.
'The Swarnagram Shikshalaya Annual Programme' is timed with the 14th Annual Sports Prize-giving Ceremony of Swarnagram which is a celebration of expertise and excellence in track and field sports - with medals awarded to the Best Boy & Best Girl and prizes presented to participants showing much promise.
And this spirited event - which began with a welcome song by the Reang tribal children of the village and ended with the community's traditional Hozagiri dance performance by the village youth - also included a yoga demonstration by the students of 'Swarnagram Shikshalaya', distribution of blankets and a health camp that was conducted by a team of doctors and assistants.
The guests-of-honour for the day were Shri Ajay Sarkar, Yoga Guru Yogi Biswa and a Swarnagram village elder; and all of them had a lot to say about their association with 'Swarnagram' and all the visible development in the tribal hamlet, improvement in schooling of children and upgradation in the lives and livelihood of the resident villagers.
“The 'Swarnagram' project of Shyam Sundar Co. Jewellers, is a very special initiative that is dedicated to a very nobel cause", said Ajay Sarkar, adding, "And I am very happy to be associated with 'Swarnagram Shikshalaya' as director."
Yoga Guru Yogi Biswa expressed his delight by the yoga performances of the students and said,” I am really very happy to be part of this program and I like to take this opportunity to congratulate Shyam Sundar Co. Jewellers for this noble initiative.”
"Swarnagram started as a dream - sixteen years ago - and has since been realised to a large extent - thanks to the patronage of concerned government departments, support of Ramakrishna Mission and Bharat Sevashram, contribution of associates and, most importantly, response of the people of Swarnagram and encouragement of friends and well-wishers - specially from the news media”, said Rupak Saha, Director, Shyam Sundar Co. Jewellers." He further added, "Swarnagram Shikshalaya was included as an extension of this dream project - a couple of years back - and is now an integral part of the 'Swarnagram' initiative and one that paves the way to the future.”
"However, generally, much work remains to be done and, together, we can make it all happen", signed-off Saha - looking, gratefully, at the honoured guests on stage and the rapt audience of resident 'Swarnagram' villagers. The day's programme was followed by a community feast and, as always, ended on a sweet note.
