Six more Bangladeshi with Indian touts arrested from Dharmanagar, Khowai
Infiltration from the unrest that hit Bangladesh into Tripura continued and again on Friday six Bangladeshi including four women and two Indian human traffickers were arrested by Tripura police from Dharmanagar and Khowai.
Infiltration into the Northeastern states especially in Tripura and Assam has continued for Bangladesh and in the last few months hundreds of Bangladesh nationals along with Rohingyas were arrested by security forces from different borders of the state.
After a brief half, especially after operation ‘Sindoor’, the infiltration was almost stopped due tight security in the entire stretch of border, but during the past one and half months Bangladesh nationals were arrested from different parts of the state.
Police sources said that based on intelligence inputs over movements of Bangladeshi women in busiest Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) area of Dharmanagar town, a contingent of G-branch of BSF raided at the spot and they managed to detained four Bangladeshi women and two Indian human traffickers.
Detained Bangladeshi were identified as Riya Begum (35), Rima Aktar (18), Arjina Sheikh (35) and Barna Mulla (40) of Commilla district of Bangladesh and two Indian touts were identified as Minal Hussain(30) of Madhupur area of Sepahijala district and Salman Uddion (21) of Churaibari area of North Tripura district.
Later, BSF handed over them to Dharmanagar police station for further legal proceedings.
OC of Dharmanagar police station, Smriti Kanta Bardhan said they arrested all four Bangladesh national along with Indian touts under different sections of BNS and during preliminary interrogation, arrested Bangladeshi revealed after they entered into Indian territory through Agartala border with help of touts, they boarded in a bus to reach Dharmanagar towards their destination to Guwahati for job purpose.
Police added said that investigation is underway to identify those who helped them enter India and added that police have registered a specific case under sections of the Passports Act, the Foreigners Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and all arrested foreigners and touts were produced before a local court on Friday with police remand appeals for further legal proceedings. Police also said that all those involved in these cases will be arrested and police will launch another operation to arrest human traffickers involved with infiltration of Bangladeshi into Tripura’s territory.
In another raid, based on intelligence inputs, the police personnel from Khowai police station arrested two Bangladeshi youths from Baijalbari Naka point from an auto-rickshaw, before their entry into Khowai town.
Bangladesh nationals were identified as Khokan Sarkat of Habiganj district and Anil Sarkar of Brahmanbaria district of Bangladesh. Police also detained auto-rickshaw driver Bulu Malakar.
Police added that arrested Bangladeshi youths would be produced before a local court on Saturday for further legal proceedings.
