Six thieves’ arrested, stolen gold jewelleries, scooty recovered
In order to celebrate the ensuing in peaceful manner, the Agartala city in continuation of its special drive against anti-social elements has on Tuesday arrested six members of a thief’s gang and recovered stolen gold ornaments and a scooty under their possessions.
Giving details of the special operations to flash-out anti-social elements and drug peddlers, SP(West) Kiran Kumar said that during the special drive, the Agartala city police arrested six thieves involved with many stolen incidents and has recovered gold jewelleries worth of Rs. 3.5 lakh and a scooty under their possessions.
He said that two separate cases have also been registered at East Agartala police station and in the case of jewellery stolen incident, police have arrested two youths identified as Uday Datta (18) and Nayan Burman (22) of Rantus Colony under East Agartala police station.
Based on the interrogation statements of these thieves, police recovered gold jewelleries worth Rs. 3.5 lakh from a jewellery shop located at L N Bari road, said the SP and added that the owner of the shop is now absconding.
In another case, police recovered a stolen scooty from the possessions of three lifters identified as Sagar Sarkar (19) of Jagat Palli of Subhash Nagar, Rahul Das (20) of Durga Chowmuhani and Bishal Saha (22) of Jagaharimura under East PS. Police have also recovered the stolen scooty under their possessions.
He added that all the arrested thieves are habitual drug addicts and they started an investigation to arrest other gang members.
SP Kiran Kumar said that their special drives will continue and police detain drug peddlers, who are spreading the network across the city.
