Smuggler arrested with huge quantities of cannabis from Agartala railway station
Huge quantities of dry-cannabis (Ganja) seized from parcel office of Agartala railway station by government railway police (GRP) on Thursday and arrested a smuggler, which has been booked for New Jaipaiguri station through Kanchanjunga express.
Giving details of the seizure OC of the GRP station of Agartala railway station said that based on secret information, the GRP personnel raided the parcel office of the state and found a man with six big cartons. When police personnel asked him what the material inside these boxes was, he replied electronic items and over suspicious, when police opened these boxes, they found 86 packets of dry cannabis were hidden inside six big boxes, which had a total weight of 319 kgs.
GRP arrested a smuggler identified as Uttam Kumar Paul of Baishnab Tilla area of AD Nagar under the NDPS Act case. Police added that accused smuggler has been produced before a local court with police remand appeal to interrogate him to find out the source of the seized cannabis.
