Smuggling through Deogarh Express: Two pantry men arrested with huge quantities of dry Ganja
The Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Agartala Railway station busted a big network of Railway staff involved with smuggling of dry Cannabis (Ganja) from Agartala to Bihar state and recovered huge quantities of Ganja with arrest of two pantry men.
Giving details , officer-in-charge (OC) of GRP in Agartala Railway station, Tapash Das, based on secret information that a group of Railway staff were involved with smuggling of narcotic items from Agartala to other parts of the country, a joint contingent of GRP and RPF laid a trap at the station on Saturday evening.
Before the departure of Deogarh Express from Agartala, the joint forces cordoned the entire rail and started search operation, said Das and added that during their search in the express train, they noticed two pantry men with a food cart were moving towards the pantry wagon of the Deogarh express train.
Then, security forces stopped that and over suspicion, they opened a carton from the food party cart, found dry Ganja wrapped in the carton.
He said that forces have recovered a total of 282 packets inside 24 cartons and dry Ganja of 298.55 kilograms inside these packets, worth Rs. 40 lakh.
He said that GRP have arrested two pantry men identified as Butto Kumar (27) of Begusarai district of Bihar and Ankul Kumar (23) of Lakhisarai district of Bihar under a case of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act 1985.
Das added that police on Sunday forwarded them before a local court with police remand appeals for further interrogation to unearth the entire network of Ganja smuggling through Railway.
He also hoped that soon they would manage to arrest other kingpins involved with smuggling of narcotic items through the Railway.
