In order to control the smart evade of traffic violation by a section of people in Agartala Smart city, the Traffic police has launched a special enforcement drive, who are trying to dodge the CCTV coverage of the city by tempering their motor vehicle registration number.
The city Traffic police on Thursday evening have launched a special drive to detect vehicles, which are being tempered with number plates by its owners to dodge the CCTV coverage, detect during violation of traffic rules.
Giving details, a senior official of the Traffic department said that they have noticed many vehicle owners rampantly violate the traffic rules and they often tried to give misinformation during CCTV coverage in the city.
As per the special drive in the busiest Hari Ganga Basak (HGB) Road, specially in Hawkers Corners, Post-Office Chowmuhani and Melarmath areas of the city, the Traffic police found many motorbikes have tempered number plates.
Soon after detection of such vehicles, police immediately imposed challen as per Traffic laws and seized these vehicles.
The Traffic official added that these errant vehicle owners have tempered their vehicle registration number in order to avoid the CCT surveillance of the city and they have used wrong or number plates of other vehicles, which is direct violation of traffic laws.
He said that Traffic police will take stringent action against these violators and will cancel their driving licenses also.
