Spl POCSO court sentenced 10-years of jail to two rapists

In a landmark judgement, a special POCSO court of North Tripura district sentenced 10-years of imprisonment on Tuesday to two rapist for rape to a 13-years old minor girl.
In the year 2023, two miscreants, identified as Nirmal Suklabaidhya (22) and Maheshandra Suklabaidhya (19) of Netaji Colony of Rabindranagar village under Kanchanpur police station of North Tripura district raped a minor girl (13), when her parents went for their daily works.
After the incident came to limelight when the victim girl became seriously ill and her parents admitted her to Kanchanpur hospital, where doctors ascertained that she is carrying a three-months pregnancy.
Astonished parents then learnt about the brutal incident on her and they lodged a formal complaint of April 27, 2023 last at Kanchanpur police station. Police registered the case under section 376(2) (N), 376 (D), 34 of IPC and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and managed to arrest both accused youths.
The police investigation team within a short period filed the charge-sheet and after long hearing and recording witnesses of 25 persons, the special POCSO court on August 18 framed the charges against both accused on Tuesday (August 26) pronounced the sentenced for 10 years rigorous imprisonment to both accused and imposed fine of Rs. 10,000 each unless six months of more imprisonment, said government advocate Sudharshan Sharma.
