Sports Minister felicitates Tripura women’s football team for stellar run in Sentinels championship-2025
Tripura Women’s Football Team was felicitated for their outstanding performance in the Assam Rifles Sentinels Football Championship 2025, where they secured the runners-up position, at Assam Rifles Kunjaban Garrison, Agartala on 31 March 2025.
On Monday’s event was graced by Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports, Tinku Roy in presence of Brigadier Manish Rana, DIG Assam Rifles, who personally congratulated the team and commended their dedication and sportsmanship.
The championship witnessed intense competition, with matches being played at Lokra, Assam, and the final match held at Laitkor, Shillong. Tripura Women’s team displayed remarkable resilience and skill throughout the tournament, ultimately finishing second after a closely contested final against the Assam Rifles Women’s team.
During the felicitation ceremony, Minister Tinku Roy praised the players for their hard work and emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting women’s sports in Tripura. He encouraged the athletes to continue striving for excellence and assured them of continued support from government like developing sports' infrastructure and training facilities in the state.
A special note of appreciation was extended to Assam Rifles and Tripura Football Association (TFA) for their instrumental role in selecting and preparing the team for the championship. Their support and guidance played a crucial role in shaping the team’s success.
The event concluded on a high note, with the players expressing their gratitude and reaffirming their determination to bring further laurels to the state. Tripura Women’s Football Team’s achievement stands as an inspiration for young athletes across the region, showcasing the potential of women’s football in the state.
