Suspected ISI agent arrested from Sabroom

Just a few hours before the first phase of Lok Sabha elections in West Tripura Parliamentary Constituency, panic gripped the entire Sabroom area of South Tripura district after a suspected ISI agent and citizen of Pakistan was arrested from Jalefa Bazar area on Thursday afternoon.

Sources said that police personnel of Sabroom police station had received information that a suspected youth was taking photos of different locations of Sabroom through his mobile phone.

Based on the information, a police team started searching for the suspected youth and they managed to detain one Aayan Alam (26) from Jalefa Bazar area.

Police sources said that detained youth Aayan Alam, son of Mahamad Almin Alam of Karachi city of Pakistan and soon after his arrest, state and central intelligence agency personnel are now starting to grill him to get details of his visit to Sabroom.

Sources said that police after reviewing the mobile phone, found many startling information including that the arrested Pakistan national was continuously in touch with many Pakistani national through WhatsApp and his contact list have names of many Pakistani officials.

Sources added that he had visited many places of West Bengal, Delhi and Kashmir and intelligence officials are now trying to get details over his journey to Sabroom and what is his motive behind his visit to the bordering town of Tripura.

Sources also added that the arrested youth was also constantly in touch with his four brothers in Karachi and had also contacted some top ISI officials in Karachi.
