The Higher Education department on Sunday organised the ‘Teacher Pranam-2026’ programme at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala, paying tribute to the teaching community and recognizing their contribution to the state’s education sector.
Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, Higher Education Minister Kishore Barman, senior officials of the Higher Education department and other distinguished personalities attended the programme.
One of the key highlights of the event was the felicitation of principals from various colleges across Tripura. Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha personally presented the honours to the principals in recognition of their important role in strengthening the academic environment and improving the quality of education in their respective institutions.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister stressed the need to further modernize and strengthen the state’s higher education system. He emphasized improving the quality of education in colleges, developing better infrastructure for students and maintaining a peaceful and conducive academic environment.
Dr Saha said educational institutions are not merely centres for acquiring knowledge but are also crucial in shaping the future of students. He called upon teachers, principals and all stakeholders to work collectively to ensure a healthy, peaceful and student-friendly atmosphere across colleges.
The Chief Minister also said that the state government is undertaking various initiatives to strengthen higher education. He highlighted the importance of technology-driven education, infrastructure development and skill enhancement for students, with the objective of taking Tripura’s higher education sector forward.
The ‘Teacher Pranam’ programme carried special significance as an expression of respect and recognition for the teaching community and its contribution to society. The initiative also generated enthusiasm among the principals and academicians present at the event.
