Ten years rigorous imprisonment to rape accused govt head clerk
A government head clerk posted at the Medical Superintendent (MS) office of GB Hospital, who has been pronounced guilty for rape on Monday sentenced to 10 years rigorous imprisonment by the district and session judge of West Tripura district.
Giving details of the case, additional public prosecutor (PP) advocate Arindam Deb said on August 25, 2019 last accused Uttam Kumar Debbarma posted at the Medical Superintendent (MS) office of GB Hospital as head clerk committed rape to a woman.
After the heinous incident, an FIR was filed at Budhjungnagar police station over the statement of victim women and police and investigation team filed the charge-sheet under section 376(I) and 379 of IPC against Uttam Kumar Debbarma.
During the trail of the case, the prosecution produced 14 witnesses and court recorded their statements, said advocate Deb and added that after long hearing, the court on Friday pronounced guilty of rape to accused Uttam Kumar Debbarma. He said that the judge Sunil Kumar Sen of additional district and session court of West Tripura district pronounced the judgement on Monday and sentenced Uttam Kumar Debbarma 10 years of rigorous imprisonment under section 376 of IPC and a fine of Rs. 50,000. If the accused is unable to pay the fine amount, then he has to suffer imprisonment of 6 more months.
