Theft in CBI camp office in Agartala, more stolen items recovered

The investigation team of New Capital Complex (NCC) police station of Agartala on Sunday recovered office items and accessories, stolen from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) camp office in Agartala.

Giving details of the incident, SDPO (NCC) Subrata Barman said that the CBI camp office located in Shyamali Bazar quarter complex under the same police station was opened on February 11, 2025 after five months. CBI officials after noticing the stolen incident, the CBI Inspector Anurag on the same day lodged a complaint at the police station.

The OC of the NCC police and OC of Abhoynagar police town outpost (TOP) formed a team and started investigation, said Barman and added that during investigation, the police team within 48 hours of lodging FIR has managed to arrest six thieves involved in the incident.

 

Among arrested thieves,  four identified as Biplab Debbarma, Raju Bhowmik, Dilip Sarkar and Biltu Tanti were brought under police remand on February  13 and based on their interrogation statements, police on Sunday has also recovered more stolen items including electric fans, chairs, tables and other household items.

This incident came to light, when a CBI team opened their office on February 11 last after five months, the they found all office items including big almirahs, doors, windows, utensils and different electric items stolen away by unknown thieves.

SDPO said that till Sunday, police had managed to recover major parts of stolen items, but were unable to recover electric accessories including huge quantities of wire, switches etc as thieves had sold these items. He hoped that soon they would get details, where they sold these items.
