Three inter-state drug peddlers of Assam, Bihar states arrested with Ganja at Agartala rail station

Again on Monday, the Government Railway Police (GRP) of Agartala Railway station arrested three drug peddlers including a woman of Bihar and Assam states, involved in inter-state drug transportation network were arrested with large quantities of dry Cannabis (Ganja) before boarding to long distance train.
The GRP personnel, posted during a routine inspection at the Agartala Railway station on Monday morning, detained three individuals on suspicion and later arrested them after recovering a large quantity of Ganja under their possession.
According to GRP officials, the incident occurred in the early morning of Monday when the three individuals were noticed moving suspiciously within the station premises.
Upon checking their belongings, police recovered 9 kilograms of Ganja, estimated to be worth around Rs 1.5 lakh in the black market.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Prahlad Kumar (36) and Ravita Devi (38), both residents of Bhagalpur district of Bihar, and Janmojoy Nunia (25) from Barakhai in Assam.
“A specific case has been registered against the accused at Agartala GRPS under the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Further investigation is underway, said the GRP official.
He also said that arrested three drug peddlers has been produced before a localcourt with police remand appeals for further interrogation to get details of their inter-state drug transportation network.
