Three more young Bangladeshi with 2 women and a tout arrested from Agartala Railway station for illegal entry
Amidst tight security along the India-Bangladesh border, the infiltration from the unrest hit Bangladesh into Tripura continued and again on Wednesday three more citizens of the neighbouring country including two young women and an Indian human trafficker (tout) were arrested by the security forces from Agartala railway station before boarding to a long distance train.
After unrest in Bangladesh, the infiltration into the Northeastern states especially in Tripura and Assam has continued and in the last few months hundreds of Bangladesh nationals along with Rohingyas were arrested by security forces from different borders of the state.
During the past two week, dozens of Bangladeshi, Rohingyas and human traffickers (Touts) were arrested from different parts of the state by security forces.
On Tuesday and Wednesday again, the Government Railway Police (GRP) , BSF, RPF and intelligence wing arrested three more Bangladeshi youths and an Indian tout from Agartala Railway station before boarding a long distance train.
Giving details, OC of GRP station of Agartala Railway station, Tapash Das said that a joint contingent of GRP, RPF and BSF based on secret information on Tuesday and Wednesday managed to arrest three Bangladeshi before their escape bid towards a long distance train.
The Bangladeshi citizens after illegally entering Tripura were trying to board a train to go to Kolkata towards their destination in other cities of the country.
A Bangladeshi woman was arrested at the Agartala railway station on Tuesday evening for allegedly infiltrating into India, shortly after a couple from the neighbouring country was caught from the same location, officials said on Wednesday.
Tapash Das said that identified the woman as Jasmine Khatun, 24, from Tangail district in Bangladesh, adding that she was arrested in a joint operation of the GRP, Border Security Force and the Railway Protection Force and police—similar to the one that had earlier led to the arrests of Arafat Hossain, 29, and Jinat Era, 34, both residents of Dhaka, who were also carrying their two-year-old infant with them.
A human trafficker from Bihar’s Samastipur district, Sachin Kumar, 22, was arrested along with the two Bangladeshis for allegedly aiding their illegal entry.
Asked if the same human trafficker was involved in the illegal entry of Jasmine Khatun, the GRP officer said the investigation was ongoing.
Two separate cases have been registered with the GRP and police under sections of the Passports Act, the Foreigners Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and all arrested foreigners and Indian tout were produced before a local court on Wednesday for further legal proceedings.
