Three thieves arrested, recovered stolen gold ornaments
After two months of searching for some fugitive thieves, the Agartala city police on Monday arrested three thieves and recovered stolen gold ornaments under their possessions.
Giving details, officer-in-charge (OC) of East Agartala police station, Sanjit Sen said on February 20th last, a group of thieves raided the rented house of one Amit Chakraborty at Dhaleshwar road number-18 and looted away some valuable gold ornaments.
After the incident, Amit Chakraborty filed an FIR at East Agartala police station and police has initiated an investigation to arrest all accused thieves, said Sen and added that the investigation, finally managed to track gang leader of thieves, Deep Bhattacharjee and on Sunday night arrested him from his rented house in Dashamighat area of Agartala.
During interrogation, the arrested gang leader revealed the robbery at Amit Chakraborty’s house and based on the confessional statement of him, police has also arrested two of his associates , identified as Dipak Sutradhar and Ariyan Sarkar and has also recovered stolen gold ornaments under their possession.
OC Sen said that Deep Bhattacharjee and Dipak Sutradhar were involved in many stolen incidents and they are both wanted in many stolen cases. All trio were produced before a local court on Monday with police remand appeals for interrogation and to get details of their crime, said OC.
