Tripura Cabinet has approved the recruitment of 1,177 personnel against vacant posts in various departments of the state government, along with the creation of 305 new posts.
Transport and Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury addressing a press conference at Civil Secretariat on Thursday afternoon after cabinet meeting said that a total of 916 police constables, including posts for both men and women, will be recruited under the Home Department. The recruitment process will include physical fitness tests, a written examination and a viva voce, conducted directly by the department.
The Cabinet has also approved the recruitment of 219 LDCs through the Joint Recruitment Board of Tripura (JRBT) under the Health and Family Welfare Department. In addition, 27 Technical Group-C posts will be filled in the Directorate of Printing and Stationery.The Tribal Welfare Department will recruit six LDCs and nine multi-tasking staff through the JRBT.
Chowdhury further said that Government Railway Police (GRP) stations will be established at Bishramganj, Udaipur, Belonia and Sabroom railway stations in the coming days. For this purpose, 105 new posts have been created, including three Sub-Inspectors, 11 women Sub-Inspectors, nine Assistant Sub-Inspectors, 21 women Head Constables, 56 women Constables and five Constable drivers.
Besides, 200 Assistant Professor posts have been created under the Higher Education Department for recruitment in various degree colleges across the state. The recruitment process for these posts will be initiated soon.
The Cabinet has also decided to establish Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Trust's Sri Sri University in Bishalgarh, according to the tourism minister. He said the university would offer higher education in various disciplines, beginning with diploma-level courses.
