In a major step towards strengthening and modernizing animal healthcare services across the state, the Tripura Animal Resources Development Department on Friday launched 50 block-level Mini Mobile Veterinary Units at a programme held at Pragya Bhavan in Agartala on Friday.
The initiative was inaugurated by Animal Resources Development Minister Sudhangshu Das, who also flagged off the vehicles, marking the official commencement of the mobile veterinary services.
The programme was attended by West Tripura Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati , Biswajit Shil, along with nearly 300 officers and employees of the Animal Resources Development department.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Sudhangshu Das reiterated the state government’s commitment to delivering modern, accessible and farmer-friendly veterinary healthcare services to the doorsteps of livestock owners. He expressed confidence that the initiative would improve animal health, reduce livestock mortality, enhance productivity, and contribute to higher incomes and better livelihoods for animal rearers across the state.
During the event, the Minister and other dignitaries symbolically handed over the keys of the newly launched Mini Mobile Veterinary Units to their drivers, marking the formal rollout of the public service initiative.
The state government had earlier introduced 13 Mobile Veterinary Units to provide rapid veterinary care across Tripura. Building on the success of that programme, the newly launched 50 Mini Mobile Veterinary Units, equipped with modern veterinary equipment, will ensure faster, more accessible and effective animal healthcare services in every block of the state.
Integrated with the 1962 toll-free Veterinary Helpline, the units will provide a wide range of doorstep veterinary services, including animal treatment, emergency veterinary care, vaccination, deworming, artificial insemination, pregnancy diagnosis, disease surveillance, and other essential livestock healthcare services, making quality veterinary care more accessible to farmers throughout Tripura.
