Tripura along with other parts of the country will celebrate the fifth edition of the nationwide 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign from August 9 to August 17, with a series of programmes across the state to promote patriotism and encourage citizens to hoist the National Flag at their homes.

The announcement was made by Information and Cultural Affairs  department (ICA) secretary Kiran Gitte during a press conference held at the Civil Secretariat on Friday afternoon.

Addressing the media, the ICA secretary said the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2022 as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations. The initiative aims to strengthen people's emotional connection with the National Flag, pay tribute to the country's freedom fighters, and instill a deeper sense of patriotism among citizens. This year's celebrations have been dedicated to the 150th birth anniversary of 'Vande Mataram'.

A wide range of activities has been planned under the campaign, including Tiranga rallies, exhibitions, Tiranga concerts, bike and cycle rallies across districts, blocks and panchayat areas, tricolour-themed illuminations, decorations and rangoli competitions, 'Tiranga Salute' programmes, and selfie-with-the-flag campaigns.

The state-level 'Har Ghar Tiranga' Rally will be held on August 11 at 4:30 PM, with Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha flagging off the event. The rally will commence from Ujjayanta Palace, pass through the city's major roads, and culminate at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan. On the same day, a Tiranga Exhibition and Tiranga Concert will also be organized at the venue. Similar programmes will be conducted in all districts across the state.

Gitte said that special emphasis has been placed on ensuring the participation of students, youth, clubs and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in the campaign. He expressed confidence that, as in previous years, the people of Tripura would make the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign a grand success with active public participation. Director of ICA department, Bimbisar Bhattacharjee was also present at the press conference.
